Hi Guys :S:
can anyone please give me some advice. in recent weeks Gino has started marking inside the house (we know it is Gino because we recorded them) I don't think it is anxiety because he doesn't stand by the door and whine.
We have tried leaving the back door open and this doesn't make any difference.
We have tried to use get off which we bought from Pets are us but whilst this worked at first it doesn't any more. We only ever leave them for an hour and a half so it isn't because they are on thier own.
We can't have him neutered because of his dicky ticker.
Hi Sue
Thanks for the link, I have tried this and it isn't working. we are coming in every time we leave the house to puddles everywhere, we have even taken to leaving them in the kitchen now so they don't do it on the carpet and that hasn't worked.
Gino walked in last night from being outside and wee'd on the back door!
I am wondering if crating them would help?
Hi Tania,
I have had the same problem with my boys. They are marking their territory, which is why Gino is weeing. He is weeing on the back door to leave his scent. My boys have also marked the hover if it is left out and the wall by my back door too. What I do is to clean it very well and spray something to get rid of the smell and then it took a bit of time bu they gradually don't return to that area. I now make sure that I watch them like a hawk and if I see them about to lift their I hustle them outdoors or I yell "Out Boys". I find that by shouting Out Boys has more of an effect on them. Try taking them out just before you go out and spray everywhere with the rid off that they would normally scent against. Crating would help. Hope this helps. It does take a little bit of time to get them out of this, but persistance does work. Sarah xxx
This is normal with two intact males, they are vying for dominance, suggest have one or both castrated.
ha ha tell me about it, i had all 3 of mine cock there leg on my bed leg the other day arrrrrghhh clean bedding too.
BANNED from upstairs as they only do it up there.
Tips to stop them
1) buy a cheap spray that holds about 1 litre water
2) Half fill with water
3) Add five drops citronella and lavender oil
4) Fill up with water
5) Shake lots
6) then when you see them attempt to lift leg spray the area and the dogs bum area
7) Shout NO (Ishout Ah AH and shake finger)
8)walk them away from area
9) Repeat each time
10)Use a dry mop with citronella on it to begin with then water and lemon juice in mop bucket helps to remind them.
Takes two to three weeks and then your are pee free.
Just to add you can erect a peeing post in a cat litter tray and place that in the area they like to use .
1) Buy a peeing post and screw into cat litter tray
2)Fill tray with cat litter
3) Encourage them to use it , one of mine even took a dump in it .
4) Change twice weekly DONOT use anything other than water to wash with for the first few times as this scent will attract them to it.
The main problem we have is that they don't do it when we are here, only when we leave the house.
So I wouldn't be able to catch them doing it.
We are trying tea tree oil in a spray at the moment to see if that will work then if it doesn't it looks like we are going to have to crate them! or put nappies on them, problem with that though is Banjo is a chewer and is likely to chew them up!
ill going to make that up Karen.
Mine are crated when i go out, my house would be swimming in the stuff if i didnt lol
I have been so lucky with Freddie he only peed when he first arrived I think 3 times in all and in the same place. sorry to say I went mad and really shouted at him NO! put him really close to the pee shouted again and again!!lol and put him out side and that did the trick he knew I was cross !!! lol he hasnt done it since.I do crate him when I go out because he chews if im not there not wood justs wires !!! but I think hes almost grown out of that now but he just likes going in his crate now jean x
Doesn't hurt to crate them when you can't give them your full attention and if they havn't been neutered, doing so would probably help. I wouldn't delay, you want this behavior nipped before it becomes habit. Be sure to completely eliminate any urine scent...vinegar no ammonia cleaner and try Karen's suggestions. Good luck!

I have been using Tea Tree oil in water and spraying the whole kitchen. This seems to be working. I am going to try the Lavender and Citronella as we have run out of tea tree.
Thanks for all the advice.
