can can u help me please ...:S:

since i have had millie she has always barked at the door when the door goes ......this is not a problem once we open the door she calms down AS LONG AS THEY GIVE HER A FUSS .

what has become a problem is WHEN ANYONE LEAVES THE HOUSE OR EVEN SAYS THE BYE ........ONCE THAT WORD IS USED SHE GOES MAD ...she barks like mad at them ,jumps up the dooor ...

not wanting the person to leave :T:

miilie is very very close to meee .......she has to be in the same rooom 24/7 ..millie has to be able to see me ,she follows me everywhere ...the bathroom ,every where i go millie is beside me ....... she will stand on 2 legs and tappp me to pik her up ,shes happy then and will falll asleep in no time .if i sit down she s straight on my lap ...if i go out mi family say shes lies across the door till im back .

when I leave to go out millie just looks at me with her head on the side ...i try not and say much as i belive it is the correct way to leave ...

NEVA NEVA does bark at me ............................I AM THE ONLY PERSON SHE DOES NOT BARK AT ..!!!!! THE ONE SHE LOVES THE MOST !!!!!!

as most of u now millie is a rescue dog ...and i have had her nearly a year

[she is almost 3ys old]

this is very confussing because if she is insecure .......you wuld think she would bark at meeeeeeee !

ps .... i have been told to try so many remedies but nothing works .
That is a Bichon trate they are loyal to one, and attach. mine follow me everywhere and lay at the door, or sit at the window waiting for my return, when i go out. This is quiet normal behavour for a bichon.
Barking at the door yes mine do that to, and they carry on barking even if they know the person who has come in. This is quiet annoying to me and probably my guests, so i started to put mine outside, if they ignored my quiet demand. This seemed to work well, now all i have to say is OUT and they stop, they dont like being shut outside away from me and my guests.
Millie isnt being insecure she is just being loyal.

I can completely empathise! Lulu's very clingy too, I was worried that she was developing separation anxiety and took her to see a dog behaviourist. Now if I have to leave I put a DAP diffuser on and give her a bull's pizzle, she still follows and tries to come with but does not seem to get stressed and doesn't cry.

She does bark when someone's at the door, and I don't discourage that because I quite like the alarm function. She does stop once the intruder is in the house though!
owwwww what a clever girl lulu is ...just luv the pic

i must say ...i love the attention millie gives me ;))an that really is not a problem ..bless her

its just a pain having tell people not to say the word BYE when they leave or having to put her in the other rooom so they can leave peacefully:q:lol

I suppose you could desensitise her, by getting her used to the word bye in other situations, lie saying bye and sitting down to read the paper.
That is a good suggestion Andrea, or get people to say bye as they are entering.
Ralphy was like that at partings. He was good at stay so I say that now and he sits and stays now whoever is leaving, even me. He even heads off to his crate when we put our coats on.
When I come in from work he knows the sound of the car and comes to the back gate to meet me as OH who is in all day with him leaves back door open which is a miracle as OH is so security concious. Ralphy has melted his heart too!
thank you 2 u all

instead of avoiding the word ...i think your rite..... ill try and use it more in diffferant situations and she may just get used 2 it ..

its alll worth trying :W:

Lucy used to bark and get all excited when people arrived. Not all people are doggy orientated, so I would ask everyone to ignore her when they came in, no contact, nothing.
Then eventually would allow them to greet Lucy when she had settled down and stopped getting excited.
This had the effect of Lucy realising she would not be greeted until she was calm, and she would not bark or jump up when visitors arrived.

I never had problems when people left the house, but as she was crate trained we would shake the treat box and she would know to pop into her den, she would get a treat and we would leave. However we would have to do this as THE VERY LAST THING to do before we left!! If you put her in her den and then started faffing for keys coat etc she would get teasy!!
Hi Sharon. Chloe is exactly the same. She barks frantically when anyone knocks the door and does not shut up until she has had her fuss. Putting her in another place only adds to the noise so I usually pick her up before I answer the door. People leaving has never been a problem though although she does like to go to the fron door with them to wish them goodbye. She sounds such much like Chloe as she also rules the roost! The desensitisation suggested by Andrea sounds like a great idea. X
