This company make made to measure roll collars and half check roll collars, they are worth a look for any show potential puppy. The wearing of a collar 24/7 is not adviseable as it damages the soft fine neck hairs, they become thin and will be difficult to grow back for show.It is not necessary to wear a collar all the time , we only use them for walkies, it gives the dog an idea when work is about to start in comparison to general out time. Once we reach for the collar and lead the dogs sit and some even dip their heads to apply the set.

We recommend the starting of a rolled collar. For show bichons, it stops all the breakages seen with traditional collars.

I have seen the ones made by pet perks and examined two of them, they are simply not good enough and look very amateurish. So suggest spending a few more pounds and getting a handmade one from this company.
Would this be recommended for a Maltese?
A Rolled collar absolutely. They roll with the movement of the dog.
Thanks Karen, i will keep this in mind WHENEVER i get my show dog:X:
Elaine it will come sooner than you think . Many show dogs are only as good as the groomer!
The company want to know the measurements and I haven't a clue. What should I tell them - I want to get two collars, one puppy-sized and one adult sized.

8" is the smallest size they do. OK, thanks very much. I shall order an 8" collar.
8 inch and 10 inch should suffice
Thank you, everyone. I do like to get things organised early.:%

I know what you mean Judy, I am really organised and I had all kinds before I got Buster (far too much:-)) ).I still spoil him now. When we got Ronnie & Reggie he shared everything with them. When we buythings now it's 3 of everything, as we treat them all the same. It's so exciting when you bring them home, little balls of fluff, well in Busters case BIG ball of fluff. I wish you all the best x
Collars worn all the time will damage the dogs coat so be very aware of this.An incorrect sized collar can cause trachea problems, did you know that 90% of PM dogs that wore choke, chains had a damaged trachea. When wearing a collar its not adviseabale to pull the neck, simply take up the slack, its like a horse with reins, give it too much head and it will have you off...
