Hi everyone
We take Ralphy on walks with a group of dogs; 10-20 of them can be there. It feels safe letting him off his lead when he is with the pack as he doesn't run away from the pack and he so enjoys the freedom.
The trouble is every time we go he decides decides to fall in love with another dog. It is a different one each time and either male or female will do. They are always a lot bigger than him too. Ralphy then pesters the living daylights of out his new love of the day. He constantly follows and jumps up (not humping) just putting his paws on his latest love and trying to lick their mouths and ears.
It is getting embarrassing and of course some of the dogs ( & owners) don't like it. Being growled at doesn't seem to dampen his adour either. If he is challenged he rolls submissively but this doesn't stop him chasing after his chosen one again soon after. He is just so friendly with all dogs and people.
I don't want him to get hurt yet I want to keep up the walks. Last week I had to put him on a long lead as he was incessantly after a terrier. Then I thought we come so he can run free with the gang so it's all pointless if he has to stay on the lead. None of the others are.
Any tips to curb this behaviour of this OTT friendly dog gratefully received.
