Juat a warning for others.

I've had totake Pixie to the Vet.

I used this flea solution yesterday and she came out in an irriatation that became a welt and it has irratiated her so much that she due blood. She had to have a Antihisimine injection, Piriton tablets and Fuciderm creama nd is now out of sorts with herself.

Just a warning for others, as the Vet said that they have lots of people bringing pets in with allegies to Bob Marin.
My poor little Pixie,

She has had the worse day of her life and she's only four months old.

Her back has turned inflamed and so tender that I can't touch even near it to put her cream on. She is sitting in a cormer that she never sits in; all alone! She looks so sad! She is in terrible pain with the itching and is yelping and crying and has been all day. I've crushed up her Periton tablet in her dinner, but she doesn't want to eat.I don't seem to be able to comfort her and she even turned her back on me and won't look at me. I feel so guilty and so sorry for her, but what can I do?
Make sure she gets the piriton, once that starts working she will probably feel better, if she is not eating, im afraid you will have to push the pill to the back of her throat, hold her mouth and rub her neck to encorage her to swallow.
Cruel to be kind im afraid hug to you and pixie, poor little love
Now this is interesting is it the [puppy shampoo , I have noticed that some have an allergy to the red one made by BM.
Ahh Poor little love, I hope she is better soon.

A good alternative to flea powder is to give them a garlic capsule(ouderless of course)every day this kept my old English sheepdogs free from fleas. It would have been a nightmare if they had got fleas.
Aww bless her. Hope Pixie gets well soon. Hug for you and Pixie. xx
Poor Pixie! Hope she's her spunky self soon!

xxxNikki
Thanks everyone for sending Pixie good wishes and for the advice given.

The poor little thing is still in a bad way. I made sure she got her Periton and managed to put some of the Fuciderm Gel on her this am. Even that was so painful for her and she jumped at my hands to bite them, as it was stinging her so much.

I'm so shocked at what an affect it's had on her and she's still crying in pain at times, but not so frequent.

I'm going to write to Trading Standards, Bob Martin and cc Salisbury's into my complaint.

It's Bob Martin Flea & Tick - Spot On Solution 744mg for small dogs & Puppies form 2 weeks.

Please no one use it, as I'd hate any of you to have to see your pets go through such unnecessary pain and anguish

Poor little Pixie is sleeping alot, but she had a little play with one of her fav toys for a few mins, so she'll hopefully be back to her little mischievous self soon.

Thanks again everyone....x
Best wishes to you and Pixie, I hope she is soon better, you must be very worried and upset I am sorry for you both. Keep everybody posted in her recovery.

Val
I hope Pixie is soon back to her normal self.It is awful to see them suffering. Hugs for you too as i know how you must be feeling watching Pixie suffer. xxxx
I hope Pixie gets wellsoon. Good luck with trying to take on the companies as they deserve it. As I found out by trying to make Pets at Home remove a toy from their store because it is dangerous, it is not so easy and they are not interested in individuals, only their profit margin. I hope you have some luck though as what Pixie went through was awful. Sarah xx
Thak you Val and Chrismc...she is just getting back to her usual cheeky self today, which is a great relief. Last night again she wanted to be on her own and sleep in corners all alone. I felt so sorry for her. She looked so sad and forlorn and I think she thought I caused her the pain.
Thanks Sarah, I know that as an individual I won't have much impact on these companies, but at lease I'll make my voice know to them. They should not be allowed to sell this product, as I've read so many bad reviews about it online and it has causes suffering to so many Dogs and Cats.

Thanks again everyone for all the good wishes...x
Glad to hear she is slowly returning to her normal self,
I have today contacted the company as three of my own dogs have also reacted to the product this week , after using this for many years I await the companies response, I think this may be a dodgy batch.
Thank you for your e-mail below advising us that your dogs have experienced an unusual reaction following using one of our Spot On products. We were extremely concerned to hear this and offer our sincere apologies.

We have not seen a noticeable rise in adverse reaction rates, however, the information below is worrying and will need to investigate this claim further. To enable us to do this and report the reactions accordingly we would be grateful if you could complete the attached form and return it to us, please complete one per dog and also return any remaining product and/or packaging to us. Without the product we are obviously unable to test the solution to rule out any problems. If you would like to enclose a copy of any vets bills (itemised) that have been incurred then once we have received all of the requested information, we will forward all correspondence to our Technical Department for their consideration and investigation. Please send all correspondence to us using our 'FREEPOST, Bob Martin' (no postage or further address is required).

We would be grateful if the any other members whose dogs have experienced a reaction to the product would either contact us as you have or print a copy of the attached form and return it to us with a covering note.

We would like to thank-you in advance for your assistance in this matter, we are always concerned when a product fails to meet expectations and would be grateful for any additional information you can provide us with.

We will of course then deal with this matter accordingly and will wait to hear from you.

Yours sincerely

Well I'm impressed with initial response. Let's see if they follow through.
Poor Pixie. I hope she is fully recovered now?

I just wanted to add that I used the exact same product on Baxter who had the same reaction about 7 months ago. I bathed him to try and wash as much of the product off but It was no use. He ended up with an open sore about the size of a £2 coin. The vet told me it was a very common problem with that product and has been proven quite fatal in cats. I received the same letter (word for word) from Sarah Smith at Bob Martin when I complained. I had photographic evidence and a large vet bill. In the end I was sent a letter of apology (to such a RARE reaction( Yeah right!!!!)) and a cheque covering the vet bill. It also stated they were NOT prepared to cover subsequent veterinary costs.

I now use advocate on Baxter who has never had a reaction to the product. The best piece of advice I can give to other readers is please DO NOT USE BOB MARTIN SPOT ON UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Asda and Tesco do not care about the reaction of your pet and only refer you to Bob Martin when you try to complain. They fail to comment when you ask them to stop supplying the product to the general public.
Lulu nearly died following Beaphar spot on treatment- bought off the shelf at Pets at home. She was about 6 or 7 months then. She suffered seizures, abnormal involuntary movements, severe abdominal pain (I still remember the screams!!!!) and explosive diarrhoea. She had a milder reaction to the spot treatment used by a German vet as a PETS travel scheme re-entry condition, just restlessness and abnormal movements/involuntary jerks. Will take her straight home next time and wash it off!

We've been using Advocate, too, on both Lulu and Coco, with no problems whatsoever. Although I refuse to use it monthly, they get it every three to four months.
I do the same Andrea after Kasey had such a reaction that time. Vet no longer selling Advantix. Says too many bad reactions. I've always used it without incident. Vet sell Frontline now. Hard to know what to do.
Dogs can have a reaction to most topical treatments so its always wise to do a skin test to check for reactions etc, How to do this and yes it is costly but still cheaper than a vet visit at zero hours.
take the treatment and mix with a barrier cream and place in fridge for 2 hours before use, do not use on a dog that has been bathed in the last 5 days or on a dog with known skin conditions or on a dog that uses cologne.
Take a place behind the ear and remove a tiny bit of coat and add the smallest amount possible directly onto the skin, do not rub in and do not pat in, leave alone and then watch and record the dogs reactions, if you notice reddening wash off immediately with warm water. Do this for all ones you wish to use. By boosting the dogs immune system you can help prevent such reactions so start by giving foods that help the immune system, Many foods are known to have special nutritional significance; others are known to have medicinal properties. As with herbs, experts disagree as to exactly how important these foods are. Again, if you want more information, or have any doubts, ask questions at your local health food store, talk to your veterinarian.
Apples: We have all heard the saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." Does that apply to dogs as well? Some experts think so.
